Adventure FAQs

Guizhou has a mild, humid climate all year, but the best time to visit Guizhou is usually from April to June and September to November. Spring and autumn offer comfortable temperatures, greener rice terraces, and clearer views at Huangguoshu Waterfall and Fanjingshan. July–August is popular for summer holidays and ethnic festivals but can be hot, rainy, and more crowded.

For a classic Guizhou tour including Guiyang, Huangguoshu Waterfall, and Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, we recommend 4–6 days. If you want to add Fanjingshan, Libo, or more minority villages, plan 7–9 days. Slow travelers who love photography, hiking, and local culture can easily spend 10 days or more in Guizhou.

Most international visitors need a Chinese tourist visa (L visa) to enter Guizhou and travel around China. Some nationalities may be eligible for transit visa-free policies (72/144-hour transit) in certain Chinese cities. These rules can change, so please always confirm the latest China visa and transit policy with your airline and the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate before starting your Guizhou trip.

The main gateway for Guizhou travel is Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport (KWE). There are frequent domestic flights from major hubs like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Chongqing, plus some regional international routes. You can also combine flights with high-speed trains to reach Guizhou easily from Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Guilin, or Changsha.

China is highly digital; most shops in Guizhou accept WeChat Pay and Alipay. Many foreign visitors can now link these apps to international bank cards, or you can top up a wallet with cash. It’s still a good idea to carry some CNY cash for small local stalls or rural markets. Inform your bank about your China trip and check any foreign transaction fees before traveling.

You can buy a local SIM card or eSIM at Guiyang Longdongbao Airport or in city telecom shops (China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom). Some travelers prefer a pre-booked eSIM or portable Wi-Fi device for easy setup upon arrival. Good mobile data makes it easy to use map apps, translation tools, and ride-hailing services while traveling around Guizhou.

From Guiyang Longdongbao Airport to downtown, you can take a taxi, DiDi ride-hailing car, airport shuttle bus, or metro (where available). The ride usually takes 30–50 minutes depending on traffic and your hotel location. We can also arrange a private airport transfer with an English-speaking guide or driver for a smoother start to your Guizhou tour.

Yes. Guizhou has an extensive network of high-speed trains, expressways, and buses connecting major destinations such as Guiyang, Anshun, Kaili, Tongren, and Liupanshui. For more remote minority villages and scenic spots, a private car with driver or guided tour is the most convenient and time-saving option. We tailor the transport according to your pace and comfort.

From Guiyang, Huangguoshu Waterfall is usually reached by highway (around 2–2.5 hours) via Anshun, while Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is about 2–3 hours by road via Kaili. You can go by bus or train + local transport, but most travelers prefer a private Guizhou day tour or multi-day package so transport, tickets, and timing are all handled for you.

Absolutely. Guizhou combines very well with other Southwest China highlights. Many travelers plan routes such as Guizhou + Zhangjiajie, Guizhou + Guilin / Yangshuo, or Guizhou + Yunnan (Kunming, Dali, Lijiang). Thanks to convenient high-speed trains and short flights, it’s easy to create a longer China itinerary that includes Guizhou’s ethnic culture and karst landscapes.

Popular Guizhou attractions include Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, Fanjingshan (Mount Fanjing), Libo Karst Forest, Qingyan Ancient Town, and picturesque Dong and Miao villages around Kaili. You can enjoy minority culture shows, silver-work, drum towers, wind-and-rain bridges, as well as hiking, photography, and local food tasting. Our Guizhou tours can focus on nature, culture, or a mix of both.

To really experience Guizhou’s Miao and Dong culture, we recommend staying overnight in a traditional village such as Xijiang or Zhaoxing. Join local festivals, try home-cooked meals, watch singing and dancing performances, and visit family workshops for embroidery or silver jewelry. A private guide can help you communicate with villagers and understand the stories behind the customs.

During public holidays, summer vacation, and weekends, tickets and daily visitor quotas for Huangguoshu Waterfall and Fanjingshan can be tight. We recommend reserving tickets and shuttle buses in advance, especially if your travel dates are fixed. When you book a Guizhou tour package with us, we’ll arrange attraction tickets and time slots for you.

Guizhou cuisine is famous for being spicy and sour, but we can always arrange non-spicy dishes, plus Muslim-friendly or vegetarian options on request. Please tell us your dietary needs and food allergies in advance, and your guide will help communicate with restaurants so you can enjoy Guizhou’s local food comfortably and safely.

Most visitors choose Guiyang as an arrival base with good 4–5 star hotels and convenient transport. Near Huangguoshu, you can stay in Anshun or close to the scenic area for early-morning visits. In Xijiang and other villages, many travelers enjoy boutique guesthouses with traditional wooden architecture and great night views. For Fanjingshan, hotels are available in Tongren / Jiangkou or near the park entrance.

Yes, Guizhou is suitable for families with children and seniors, as long as the itinerary is planned carefully. Some areas, such as Fanjingshan, involve stairs and long walking, while other spots offer shuttle buses, cable cars, and gentle paths. We can design a slow-paced Guizhou tour with shorter transfers, more rest time, and hotel choices that are comfortable for all ages.

On request, we can arrange baby car seats for private vehicles where available, which is highly recommended for young children. Because many attractions have steps and uneven paths, strollers are less practical inside scenic areas, but you can still use them in cities and some flat sections. Please tell us your children’s ages and heights in advance so we can prepare suitable seats.

Yes, we can provide experienced English-speaking guides in Guiyang and main tourist areas of Guizhou. They will help you with check-ins, tickets, translations, and cultural explanations, making your Guizhou travel experience much smoother. For other languages, please contact us early so we can check availability.

A private Guizhou tour is fully customized for your group only, with flexible timing, your own guide and driver, and a personalized itinerary. A join-in group tour follows a fixed schedule with other travelers, which is more budget-friendly but less flexible. Tell us your travel style and budget, and we’ll suggest the best tour type for your Guizhou vacation.

Our Guizhou tour packages usually include private transport, English-speaking guide, hotel accommodation, entrance tickets listed in the itinerary, and some meals. International flights, personal expenses, optional activities, and tips are normally not included. We always send a clear inclusion & exclusion list before you confirm your booking.

If a site in your Guizhou itinerary is closed for maintenance, affected by weather, or fully booked, we will inform you as early as possible and suggest similar alternative attractions or adjust the schedule. We always try to keep the overall experience and value of your Guizhou tour at the same level or better.

Our cancellation policy and minimum group size depend on the specific Guizhou tour and travel season. We’ll clearly state the payment terms, deposit, and refund conditions before you pay. If you need to change dates or cancel, please contact us as early as possible so we can minimize any fees charged by hotels or local suppliers.

Yes, we can issue receipts or invoices for your Guizhou tour upon request. We strongly recommend that every traveler purchase comprehensive travel insurance in their home country covering medical costs, trip interruptions, and baggage. For certain activities, we may also include local insurance as required by scenic areas or service providers.

Guizhou is generally very safe for tourists, with friendly local people and low violent crime. As everywhere, keep an eye on your belongings in crowded places. Tipping is not a strong local tradition, but small tips to guides and drivers are appreciated if you’re satisfied with their service. In hotels or restaurants, tipping is optional.

China, including Guizhou, uses 220V, 50Hz electricity. The most common plug types are Type A, C, and I (two flat pins, two round pins, or three-pin angled plugs). Many hotels offer multi-standard sockets, but we still recommend bringing a universal travel adapter for your Guizhou trip.

Yes, we specialize in customized Guizhou tours. Whether you’re interested in photography, hiking, minority festivals, family-friendly activities, hot springs, or in-depth village stays, we can design a tailor-made itinerary based on your travel dates, budget, pace, and interests. Just tell us what kind of Guizhou experience you’re dreaming of, and we’ll plan the rest.
